The Biomolecular Computing and Graphics Facility (BCGF) includes 6 new (2003) Linux workstations, each with dual AMD Athlon MP 2400+ processors and 1 gigabyte of RAM, and an SGI R12000 dual processor Octane graphics workstation. E-mail and web services are handled through a new server consisting of dual Intel Xeon 2.4 Ghz processors, 1 gigabyte of RAM, and 130 gigabytes of RAID 5 disk storage. Two additional servers with identical configurations function as the Computational Biology Resource for the Biomolecular Resource Facility and in file hosting operations, respectively. The BCGF also includes a 16-node Linux cluster, with each node having dual AMD Athlon MP 2400+ processors and a gigabyte of RAM, all connected through a high-speed gigabit Ethernet switch. The cluster has over 1 terabyte of RAID 5 disk space, 18 gigabytes of RAM, and a theoretical peak performance of 120 gigaflops. In addition, the DEAC cluster has 98 computational nodes, located and managed on the Reynolda Campus, and is available to all CSBWFU investigators. The compute nodes are IBM Model X335 XSeries servers, and each node is connected to a Cisco-based Fast Ethernet switch with fiber gigabit connectivity to the head node. The cluster is directly connected to the WFU core network router through identical fiber-based, gigabit Ethernet.
